Rainbow, backsplash, rainbow, vanities.

It's been a rainy week around here and that's a very good thing. With the rain we've been getting lots of rainbows. And who doesn't love rainbows?

Speaking of love, check out the new backsplash in the BBQ room. The second photo shows the backsplash above the wall cabinets. There will be three shelves, starting at the top of the backsplash, connecting the two taller cabinets. The middle portion of the shelves will be have a backing in the same stranded plyboo used on the cabinetry. We're still debating whether or not to put mirrors on the left and right sides. That decision can wait until everything else is done….

After the tile backsplash was installed on the island, Dave and Scott installed the drop-in range which has spent the last few weeks parked by the front door to the main house. Again, we're loving the way the stranded plyboo frames the oven.

Yesterday, Dave and Adam installed the vanity in the BBQ room's half bath which was relatively easy although they did have to cut out part of the door jam in order to get it to fit. Dave assures us no one will ever know once he mounts it back in. They then wheeled the much larger vanity across the back yard and over to its destination in the guest house. That installation was a bit trickier as the cabinet was quite heavy and it had to be raised nine inches off the floor and mounted to wall. We all joked about how that was going to happen, asking "What would the Egyptians do?" Fortunately, there were some beams left over from the deck installation and two of them measured almost nine inches so those were used to prop up and support the cabinet while it was screwed into the wall.

Now that the two bathroom vanities are in, the tile guys will be coming today to measure the templates for the counters. Dave is hoping to get the counters in by Tuesday so that the plumbers can return to finish their work. In a week or so, we should have two finished bathrooms. Yep, finished!

We're still waiting for the rest of the guest house flooring to get done. Apparently, they didn't order enough of the electrical grids when the project started. The additional grids were ordered last week but have yet to arrive. Patience, patience, patience.

  1. I know it's so hard to be patient, especially when so much has been done and the end is starting to come into sight. You'll be there sooner than you realize. In the meantime, pour a glass of your favorite beverage, pull up a chair, and look at that gorgeous view, especially on a day when you have a rainbow. Or gaze at your tile. It's mesmerizing too.
